Going further with the noble mission to prepareSMERT- School Medical Emergency Response Team across different schools in Delhi NCR, DAV Public School, sector 49, Gurugram organized session of CODE RED for the third consecutive year.. It’s needless to say that learning First Aid is an important life skill which is capable of saving lives and limiting serious injury. Giving appropriate first aid immediately not only can help save lives but also it can help to reduce a person’s recovery time and make the difference between the patient having a temporary or long term disability. Understanding the importance of knowing First aid, DAV Public School, Sector-49, Gurugram came up with a novel and much needed initiative to train students and prepare SMERT- School Medical Emergency Response Team across different schools in Delhi NCR in the year 2017.
Various SMERTs from Delhi and NCR participated in the event enthusiastically. The programme was inaugurated by the school Principal Mrs. Charu Maini in the presence of SMERTs of different schools. The event was graced by Dr. Srinivas Gopinath, Thoracic Surgeon at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Dr. K. Pani Kumar Naidu from I-Help Gurugram andAssistant Vice President-Operation Vivo Healthcare, Gurugram and Ms. Matrushree Director of Lung Care Foundation.
The students are the future of the country, so the vital responsibility of leading the nation lies with them and at DAV, we always put forth our efforts of preparing responsible and helpful beings. The event CODE RED 2019 started with an interactive session by Dr.Shrinivas Gopinath on ART(Asthma Response Training). He discussed what is school asthma and how to build the asthma management plan. The session was further proceeded by Dr Pani Kumar Naidu in which he addressed the audience about the immediate medical response to be given to a patient with Cardiac Arrest, Epilepsy, Dog Bite, Fire, Nose Bleeding and other chronic problems. Both the sessions were very informative and a worth learning experience. To enhance the understanding of SMERTs, a quiz- Clash of Saviours was organizednot only to test the preparedness of the teams but also to provide a congenial learning experience to them.Not only for the winners, the event came out to be a worthwhile experience for each and every participant.
With the gesture of taking this unique mission to heights, the school Principal Mrs. Charu Maini applauded the efforts of the participating schools and the valued guest speakers.It was indeed an informative and enlightening session through which the participants could put their knowledge to practical use in providing much needed first aid in emergencies and handle these cases with expertise.
