"Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family"

It is rightly said that Yoga is the golden key that unlocks the door to peace, tranquillity, and joy. The COVID19 Pandemic has brought to fore many challenges in front of everyone and we all have to deal with them with a calm and peaceful mind. We all know that Yoga is one of the most effective ways to have a fit body and relaxed mind.

Keeping the importance of yoga in view, DAV Public School, Uppal's Southend, Sector 49, Gurugram celebrated the International Yoga Day by organising a sequel to its Webinar Series- “Living Positively”, Session-2.0, on the theme-"Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family". International Day of Yoga is celebrated on 21 June every year with great enthusiasm all over the world. In the wake of COVID 19 Pandemic, this year we celebrated the day virtually. The day began with a formal welcome of the audience by the school principal, Ms Charu Maini and chanting of ' Gayatri Mantra' to Invoke the blessings from the almighty which was followed by ‘संगच्छध्वम् संवदध्वं सं वो मनांसि जानताम् । देवा भागं यथा पूर्वे सञ्जानाना उपासते ।।’ Chant, a call to walk and work together for healthy living and common goal of peace and brotherhood. Our yoga instructor, Ms Manju Kumari, explained all the yogasanas and their benefits to the audience. The agile yogis of our school demonstrated these asanas virtually right from their homes. The session began at 7:30 am and continued till 8:30am. The session was streamed live on the official Facebook page of the school for everyone, to make them a part of the celebration.

On this special occasion, the school Principal, Ms Charu Maini released the Lockdown special edition of the school newsletter, Spandan - the pulse of school. In her ever inspiring words, she motivated everyone to practice yoga for maintaining a steady state of mind. The program ended with a prayer- ‘सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः । सर्वे भद्राणि पश्यन्तु मा कश्चिद् दुःख भाग् भवेत् ।। ’- for the wellbeing and good health of all. It was a day full of energy, freshness and strength.
