‘Health through Breath’-Another Initiative for Better Lung Strength


Yoga rejuvenates the body and mind. A few minutes of yoga during the day can be a great way to get rid of stress and promote healthy living. Keeping in mind the physical and mental well-being of our students, DAV Public School, Sec 49, Gurugram organized yoga session ‘Health through Breath’ from 21st May 2021 to 31st May 2021 for all the students and parents on the virtual platform. The yoga instructor, Ms. Manju, took yoga sessions with great dedication. A good number of more than 400 students and parents participated with bursting interest, enthusiasm, and eagerness.

The session began by seeking the blessings of the Almighty and chanting the Gayatri Mantra. The session started with warming up followed by a series of breathing asanas such as Pranayam, Anulom vilom, Kapalbharti, Bhastrika, and Sukhasan.

Under the guidance and mentorship of Principal ma'am, Ms. Charu Maini, the yoga instructor conveyed the importance of these breathing asanas and their benefit of strengthening lungs to fight breathing disorders which have been a major threat during the Covid 19 pandemic. She further suggested making yoga an integral part of our daily life by extending the practice of yoga at our homes.

The event concluded with an interactive session between the instructor and the attendees in which their queries were addressed satisfactorily. The overall session was very refreshing, reviving, and relaxing giving students and parents a break from monotonous and sedentary living. The school wishes to take this occurrence to express gratitude to the students and parents for joining the yoga practice and making the session all the more successful and valuable.
