“Food brings together people on many different levels.

It's nourishment of the soul and body...it's pure love”.

The new session has started and the students are back to school with renewed vigour and energy, full of enthusiasm to learn new things. And what better way to bring them together than getting them involved in a mass activity on the theme 'THE FOOD WE EAT?' Each class from class III to V was assigned a country. The students did research on various aspects of the country allotted to them and brought interesting facts about it, images of its traditional dress, famous landmarks, national flags etc. They specially focused on the cuisine of that country and beautifully presented two renowned dishes of that land with detailed recipes. Each class made a collage to present information about their country highlighting its CUISINE, geography, interesting facts, costumes etc. Each collage was a collaborative effort by the students presenting a wealth of information supported by colourful images. Each collage with its mouthwatering dishes was a visual treat that shone with the love and passion of the students who made it. It was a highly anticipated activity which was thoroughly enjoyed by all the students.

“Today's wastage is tomorrow's shortage”.

It's true that food wastage is one of the most thoughtless and guilt free crimes of modern times. To make the children aware of the gravity of this problem a mass poster making competition was organised on 12 April on the theme 'Avoid Wastage of Food'. The students made really thought provoking posters with catchy slogans to highlight the epidemic of food waste. They were creative in the presentation of their ideas and were able to capture the mood of the topic accurately. All the students of classes III to V took part in this competition with interest and impressed all the judges with their artistic interpretation of the topic.

On 18 April the students of grade 4 took part in a mass activity called Tiffin Box Analysis . The class was divided into groups of five. Each student brought a special dish. The designated group leaders analyzed the tiffins of all his group members and marked the food groups to which they belonged. This activity aimed to familiarise the students with various food groups and also to spread awareness about the importance of eating a balanced diet.

Salad is one of the healthiest dishes prepared and eaten by men. To promote the habit of healthy eating in children and to arouse their interest in cooking, an inter-house salad making competition was organised on 19 April. All the six houses came up with really innovative salads showcasing fusion of ingredients as well as style of presentation. The young chefs not only managed to delight the taste buds of the judges but also won their hearts with their visually appealing salads.
