Let’s All Come Together To Wipe Out Measles And Rubella

India, along with ten other WHO South East Asia Region member countries, have resolved to eliminate measles and control rubella/congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) by 2020. In this direction, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has initiated measles-rubella (MR) vaccination campaign in the age group of 9 months to less than 15 years in a phased manner across the nation. The campaign aims to cover approximately 41 crore children.

In order to achieve the maximum coverage of  this campaign D.A.V. Public School, Sector-49, Gurugram organized a camp of MR Vaccination for the students under the direct supervision of the school Principal, Mrs. Charu Maini. During the inaugural session of the campaign all the dignitaries: Mr. B.K. Rajora (C.M.O. ,Gurugram), Dr. Neelam Thapar ( Deputy Civil Surgeon), Dr. Meenakshi (UNISEF),Dr. M. P. Singh (D.I. O.), Mr. Kuldeep Yadav (Counsellor) and Dr. Hardeep Kaur( Medical Officer) rendered their valuable service.

To create awareness of the campaign, various videos were shown to the students in the school, Pamphlets were distributed. Parents were sensitized about the nationwide campaign. After parents’ consents the students were vaccinated. School Doctor Ms. Meenakshi Misri  made the children comfortable after the vaccination. Some parents also became the part of this campaign and were present during the vaccination process. The children were vaccinated by the trained nurses of Civial hospital, Gurugram

 According to WHO, 'Measles-Rubella vaccine is safe. Around 150 countries are currently using measles and rubella containing vaccines and they have proven to be highly safe and effective'.We feel immensely glad to be the pioneer of this noble cause amongst the private schools in Gurugram region.
