It’s needless to say that learning First Aid is an important life skill which is capable of saving lives and limiting serious injury. Giving appropriate first aid immediately not only can help save lives but also it can help to reduce a person’s recovery time and make the difference between the patient having a temporary or long term disability. Understanding the importance of knowing First aid, DAV Public School, Sector-49, Gurugram came up with a novel and much needed initiative to train students and prepare SMERT- School Medical Emergency Response Team across different schools in Delhi NCR.

 The students are the future of the country, so the vital responsibility of leading the nation lies with them and at DAV, we always put forth our efforts of preparing responsible and helpful beings. The event CODE RED was a follow up session to the symposium and training session organized by the school on 06.04.2018 in which SMERTs from different schools received training from health and medical experts and AHA trainers. Besides learning CPR and basic First aid techniques, the students also learnt how to remain calm in emergency situations and stabilize a patient until emergency medical services arrive. The event was organised not only to test the preparedness of the teams but also to provide a congenial learning experience to them.
