TEACHER EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM

Teaching as a profession has undergone massive change in the last few years. Adapting to these changes, especially the proficiency to engage children has been a key challenge for educators. Keeping in mind the demanding needs of this dynamic profession, DAV organisations keep teacher empowerment as their topmost priority, as we understand that Teacher Empowerment leads to Student Empowerment.

Capacity Building Programmes (CBPs) for teachers educating classes Pre Nursery to X and Personality Enhancement Programmes (PEPs) for teachers educating classes XI and XII are a regular feature at DAV. One week of capacity enhancement is mandatory for all the teachers every academic year.

In addition to the Capacity Building Programmes, there are numerous CBSE Workshops, In- House Trainings Sessions, meetings and conferences held by GPSC (Gurgaon Progressive Schools Council), workshops and webinars conducted by NCERT and other private agencies that are attended by the teachers for personal and professional growth throughout the year.

It is ensured that teachers are empowered fully, they have access to information and materials, being free to use the resources in a way that meets student needs and targets. Teachers are given the encouragement and support necessary to take risks and engage in Continuous Professional Development (CPD) while collaborating with their colleagues and this process is essential to success in education.

The workshops and webinars focus:

• To improve teachers subject knowledge and understanding of difficult concepts of the curriculum
• To enable effective transfer of curriculum to classrooms
• To enable the teachers to promote experiential learning and critical thinking of the students
• To expose teachers to innovative teaching methods which are child centric and work towards bringing holistic development of the students
• To provide soft skills training for improved classroom instruction, and personal development of teachers.
• To offer training for providing life skills to students.

The school is highly committed to the cause of teacher empowerment and can boast of a prodigious team of Master Trainers who persevere and innovate strategies from time to time in order to train other teachers from their cluster.
