“If you are thinking a century ahead, educate the children.”

 Recognizing the need and importance of inculcating good consumer habits in the students and making them well acquainted with the fact that as consumers we have so much power to change the world by just being careful in what we buy, DAV PUBLIC SCHOOL, Uppal’s Southend, Sector-49,Gurugram organized Model United Nation, CONFERENCIA 2018 on 30^th and 31^st of July 2018. Various Students from classes VII- XII from DAVPS, Sector 48 and  Sector-14 branches participated in the event enthusiastically. The event was organized by Ms.  Meenakshi Awal, Ms Pranshu Sharma, the MUN society of the school and students of class XI and XII. The debate was declared open by the school Principal, Ms Charu Maini, after the launch of MUN logo.  The agenda , ‘’ Consumer Rights Protection’’ was inspired by the International Conference on Consumer Protection for East, South and South-East Asian Countries that was held on 26 and 27 October, 2017 in New Delhi with an aim to deduce measures for "Empowering Consumers in New Markets".
The event began with the launching of the very esteemed logo designed by Ishan Agarwal and Ishan Neogi of class XII. The MUN logo gives the message of ‘ Asato Ma sadgamya, tamso ma jyotirgamaya’ and compels us to find the path that would lead us to truth from ignorance and to light from darkness .CONFERENCIA 2018 encompassed two committees, United Nations Human Rights Council and All India Political Parties Meet. The delegates of UNHRC debated upon the betterment of the condition of consumers in the world, at large and the leaders of AIPPM reflected on ways to ensure consumer rights protection in India.

After the two very fruitful and fun-filled days of successful deliberations and discussions, the Principal applauded the efforts of the jury members of each committee, the conference staff, the photographer, the press, the technical staff as well as the teachers associated with the success of the event and declared the debate closed. The much awaited results were then announced by respective juries and the zealous winners were felicitated with the certificates and the trophies. It was a great experience for the school, wherein the students learned about not only diplomacy, foreign relations and Indian polity but also about creative writing, verbal tactics and team work. CONFERENCIA, 2018, being the first MUN of the school was thus, a great success.
