Chemistry Performance Enhancement Programme

A Performance Enhancement Programme was conducted for Chemistry teachers of classes XI and XII at DAV Public School Sector 49 Gurugram on 27 August 2022. More than fifty teachers from 28 DAV Schools of Delhi NCR and CBSE HUB schools had the great fortune of being able to attend the wonderful sessions taken by Professor K K Arora ( Former Professor, Zakir Hussain College, Delhi University) Professor G S Sodhi (Former Professor, SGTB Khalsa College, Delhi University), Ms. Charu Maini (Principal, DAV Public School Sec-49,Gurugram) and Ms Swastika ( PGT Chemistry, DAV Public School, Vasant Kunj).Prof. K K Arora took the session on Organic Chemistry about the misconceptions of stereochemistry and Discussion on Change in Assessment Pattern with MCQs and Case based questions. Prof. G S Sodhi took the session on Cogent Transition in Inorganic Chemistry. He also apprised the participants with Coordination Chemistry where he emphasized on the relevance of chemistry in forensic sciences. Ms Swastika updated the participants with Learning Outcomes and transdisciplinary goals during Chemistry Curriculum Transaction and feasible ways to achieve them. The workshop also highlighted the motive of Competency Based Education to initiate the thought process in children and empower them to survive outside the protected environment of the school by bringing palpable change in them. It also emphasized that the evaluation of multifarious activities done by students is of great importance.The Principal, Ms. Charu Maini motivated the participant teachers and inspired teachers to gauge their effectiveness in the transaction of learning and keep innovating and updating their techniques from time to time.The workshop geared up the teachers to develop a deep, driving desire to master principles of the subject. The day was full of marvellous learning and helped all to refresh the knowledge of existing concepts and to accelerate effective teaching learning process.
