“A nation's culture resides in the heart and soul of its heritage ."

 

Heritage is the legacy and pride of any country. Heritage Day is celebrated every year to raise cognizance among the future generations to not only value it but also preserve it.

 

Keeping the same in view, DAV Public School, Uppal's Southend, Sector-49, Gurugram has bathed itself in the cultural colours of our rich heritage. To add beauty to the day, we organized an Inter House Monu- Dress Competition for the students of Grade IX and X on the occasion of World Heritage Day on 18 April 2023. The theme of the competition was to design a dress to bewitchingly exhibit an Indian monument by using sustainable waste materials. 

 

The students put in their  best foot forward in this competition. The alluring Models were accompanied by presenters who took us on a cultural ride to different states showcasing their monuments and cultural legacy. Each performance was laudable.

 

The school Principal, Ms. Charu Maini put the stage on fire as she accompanied the models in their ramp walk. She appreciated the efforts of the students along with their teachers. 

 

The coveted first position was secured by Kirti House. They took everyone on a cultural ride to Orissa and their dress was exemplary as it showcased a perfect blend of sustainable waste materials and the 5 R's. The participants were- Anushka(XA), Shrishti Singh(XD), Chaitanya Chandna(IXE)

 

The second position was secured by Neeti house. Their performance brought the alleys of Khajuraho Temple alive on the stage and portrayed a grand use of waste materials. The participants were - Yati Rana Diwan(IXE), Atharva Srivastava (XC), Garvit Jangra(XE)

 

The special mention was given to Preeti House for they presented Hawa Mahal in all its pure essence raising awareness to preserve it for future. The participants were- Suhavi( IXA), Shreya Rao(IXE), Suryansh Chandel(XC)

 

The competition was a feast of culture and history.
