ENGLISH MONTH CELEBRATION (2024-25)
The Primary Wing of DAV Public School, Sector-49, Gurugram, celebrated World Book Day by organising an English Month in the April 2024, wherein many literary competitions were held and English-related activities were organised. It was a month of flurry and excitement, with the children being fruitfully engaged in various tasks related to the English language.
Children instinctively love storybooks and their fascinating characters such as pretty princesses, gallant princes, powerful kings, gorgeous queens, evil witches, scheming ogres, kind fairies and magical creatures. Through these characters, they are able to learn more about life and the world around them and themselves. These characters live in their hearts and 'Character Parade' brings them to life!
A Bookmark Making Competition was held for the students of class IV on 22.04.24. It was a mass competition in which the students were given a free hand to bring their artistic vision to life in the form of a bookmark. They used their imagination and creativity to design bright and colourful eye-catching bookmarks. The variety of designs, decorative ideas and catchy quotes on the bookmarks made them stand out and proved beyond any doubt the love of the children for reading and art and craft. Aavya (III C) and Ishani Verma (IV A) won the First prize, Laavanya Agarwal (III C) and Mihika Pruthi (IV C) won the Second prize, Arshit Nandwani (III A) and Naira Kumar (IV E) won the Third prize.
A Book Cover Designing Competition was held for the students of class V on 22.04.24. in which the students conceptualised and designed a book cover of their favourite book from scratch. It was a mass activity which brought the imagination, artistry and the designing skills of the children to the fore. All the book covers were thoughtfully designed and beautifully made. They were not only exquisite to look at but also highly informative. The judges had a tough time selecting the winners as each book cover looked unique and inviting. Lavishka Goel (V A) won the First prize, Kashvi Sharma (V E) won the Second prize, Ridai Singh Walia (V B) won the third prize and Kanha (V C) won the Encouragement prize.
A Character Parade Competition was organized on 25.04.24 for the students of class III. It was an inter-class competition in which three students from each section participated. All the participants came dressed as a character from their favourite fairytale and gave a brief presentation of 1 minute in which they introduced their character and also spoke briefly about the story. The audience, as well as the judges, were enthralled with the elaborate costumes, apt hairstyles, pretty accessories worn by the participants to get the look of their favourite characters. They won everyone's heart with their adorable get-ups, props and confident presentations. Laavanya Agarwal (III C) won the First prize, Vrinda Gupta (III A) won the Second prize, Aadhya Manocha (III B) won the Third prize and Avichal Teneja (III C) won the Encouragement prize.
