On 10th July 2024, DAV Public School, Sector-49, Gurugram, hosted an exhilarating Inter House Parliamentary Debate Competition for students of classes XI and XII. The theme for this debate was "Implementation of Women Reservation in Parliament: Boon or Bane for Indian Democracy." The event was organized under the guidance of Principal Ms. Charu Maini, a staunch advocate for intellectual engagements. She believes that debate not only enhances knowledge but also instills confidence and the ability to view issues from multiple perspectives.

 

The event was judged by Ms. Meenakshi Awal, PGT Political Science, and Ms. Rashmi Sharma, PGT English, both esteemed educators known for their expertise and dedication to fostering critical thinking among students.

 

The debate was structured to include arguments both for and against the motion, with participants presenting well-researched points, counter-arguments, and rebuttals, showcasing their understanding of the complex issue at hand. Additionally, interjectors were present to pose challenging questions and keep the session dynamic and engaging.

 

After an intense session of debating, the results were announced.

 

Neeti House secured the first position with their compelling arguments and eloquent delivery.

Following the announcement of the results, Principal Ms. Charu Maini addressed the gathering, commending the students for their meticulous research and eloquent presentations. She underscored the crucial role of such debates in nurturing critical thinking and informed discourse among the youth.

Ms. Meenakshi Awal, the head of the Political Science department, then took the stage to emphasize the profound significance of deliberating bills in parliamentary processes. She articulated, "The essence of democracy lies in the thorough deliberation of bills, especially those as pivotal as the implementation of women's reservation in parliament. These debates not only enhance our understanding but also empower us to shape a more inclusive and equitable society."

With her insightful words resonating, the event concluded on a note of intellectual stimulation and a renewed commitment to democratic ideals.
