An educational trip was organized for the students of DAV Public School, Sec -49, Gurugram, Grades XI and XII, to the Regional Centre of Biotechnology, Faridabad on August 22nd, 2024. The visit commenced with a warm welcome by Dr. Poorti Kathpalia, who introduced RCB's mission, objectives, and its remarkable contributions to biotechnology.
Students embarked on an immersive guided tour of state-of-the-art laboratories, including the Plant House, Molecular Biology Lab, and the Lab of Pigmentation Biology, where they explored cutting-edge research on model organisms, showcased by Dr.Ramu S Vemanna. They gained hands-on experience with advanced biotechnological techniques, further enriching their understanding.
The tour also encompassed visits to the Bioinformatics Lab and the Advanced Technology Platform Centre (ATPC), where students discovered innovative technologies and witnessed expert demonstrations. Mr. Madhava Rao M had the students in awe and these experiences provided insight into the latest advancements in biotechnology, including mass spectrometry, protein purification, and electron microscopy.
Taking this journey on biotechnology further, Dr. Rajender Motiani enveloped the students in the world of gene mutations by introducing them to the experiments on zebra fishes.
Through this enriching experience, students broadened their understanding of biotechnology's role in driving innovation and its potential as a future career path. The visit seamlessly integrated theoretical knowledge with practical insights, inspiring students to explore the vast possibilities in the field of biotechnology.
