At DAV Public School, Sector 49, Gurugram, we believe in nurturing a culture of excellence that resonates in every corner of our classrooms. Our mission is to empower learners with a lifelong passion for learning, grounded in values, wisdom and holistic growth.
In alignment with this vision, the school proudly hosted an Orientation Programme on Saturday, April 5, 2025, for the parents of Grade I and 2. The warm response and enthusiastic participation of parents added a special charm to the event.
The session began on a traditional note with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolising the light of knowledge and learning.
Principal Ms. Charu Maini extended a heartfelt welcome to all the parents. With poise and clarity, she emphasized the pivotal role parents play in a child’s growth, encouraging a strong partnership between school and home. She spoke about the school’s visionary Panchkosha-based approach.
She also highlighted the importance of discipline, resilience, and sincere parenting, while underlining the value of story time and meaningful family interactions in a child’s formative years.
The session was further conducted by Ms. Timsy Bhatia, Supervisory Head, who sensitively guided parents about the crucial transition from UKG to Grade I. She stressed how Early Primary Education is a time of remarkable brain development, laying the foundation for future learning.
She made the aware about the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) approach, an NEP 2020 initiative, which focuses on nurturing key language and math skills through activity-based and joyful learning.
Orientation also highlighted key insights into effective parenting, drawing a powerful contrast between helicopter parenting and lighthouse parenting—encouraging parents to be steady guides while promoting independence.
With warmth and wisdom, parents were reminded all to “Work with The Child Rather Than For or Through The Child.”
As the session drew to a close, parents shared their appreciation and pledged their wholehearted support in nurturing confident, compassionate, and self-driven learners.
