Stand-Up Comedy

As part of the celebration of World Book Day, DAV Public School, Sector 49, Gurugram, organised the Inter-House Stand-Up Comedy Competition for Class IX on 22 April 2025. The event encouraged students to explore literature through a humorous lens by reading books of their interest and presenting comic acts inspired by their reading.
Enthusiastic participants from all six houses showcased their creativity, wit, and stage presence. The competition aimed to develop students’ comic timing, originality in scriptwriting, and public speaking skills. Themes ranged from Kabir ke Dohe, Swaminathan’s relationship with his father, and Gulliver’s Travels to a modern twist on Mahabharat 2.0.
A highlight of the event was Ansh Taneja of Kirti House, who had the audience in splits with his hilarious take on Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar.
Result of the competition is:
- 1st Position: Ansh Taneja (Kirti House) and Mridarth Paul Roy (Jyoti House)
- 2nd Position: Abhyudaya Asthana (Kirti House) and Mashika Vashishth (Shakti House)
- Consolation Prize: Abhuv Nagpal (Preeti House)
The judges appreciated the originality, confidence, and literary insight demonstrated by the students. The event not only celebrated the joy of reading but also fostered creativity and healthy competition among the houses.
