The much-awaited third interschool edition of Conferencia ’25 commenced with great zeal and grandeur at DAV Public School, Sector-49, Gurugram. The opening ceremony marked the beginning of a two-day academic extravaganza that aims to foster critical thinking, diplomacy, and global awareness among young minds through simulated United Nations debates.
The prestigious event was graced by eminent dignitaries, with Vice President DAMCMC, Director General CID, Chief of Intelligence Haryana State, ADGP CID, Mr. Anil Kumar Rao as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honour, Shri Vinit Goenka, Secretary Centre for Knowledge Sovereignty, Head of IT Cell, Member of Governing Council CRIS, and Mrs. Adarsh Kohli, Manager, DAV Public School, Sector-49, Gurugram, added further distinction to the occasion. Mr. Khushmeet Narwal, President of Conferencia ’25 and a proud DAVian, joined as a special guest, adding warmth and familiarity to the gathering.
The ceremony commenced with a soulful welcome dance, celebrating the spirit of self-realisation. Principal Ms. Charu Maini extended a heartfelt welcome to all guests, presenting them with potted plants, symbolising growth, positivity, and sustainability. In her inspiring address, she emphasized the importance of nurturing the 4 Cs of 21st Century Skills; Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration, and Communication. She appreciated the efforts of the organizing team and encouraged students to harness such platforms to become responsible global citizens.
Sh. Anil Kumar Rao, in his motivating speech, reminded the delegates that participation holds greater value than the outcome. His words instilled confidence among the delegates and encouraged a spirit of healthy competition. He also reiterated the timeless Indian philosophy of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”- The world is one family.
Shri Vinit Goenka, addressing the young delegates shared that forgiveness and dialogue have value only when they come from strength. He urged the students to understand the depth behind negotiation and diplomacy. He further emphasized the importance of embracing sustainability and unity, reminding the audience that these are not just abstract ideals but shared responsibilities for the future.
Mrs. Adarsh Kohli, while sharing her insights, acknowledged the school's efforts in organizing such a large-scale academic event. She remarked that platforms like MUNs play a vital role in developing leadership, analytical thinking, and communication skills, which prove beneficial throughout life. Her words echoed the school’s commitment to holistic and experiential education.
The ceremony culminated in a powerful and symbolic moment when Secretary General Ms. Srishti Singh officially declared Conferencia ’25 open by banging the gavel. She expressed sincere gratitude towards the organizing committee, Executive Board members, Secretariat, and participating schools for bringing this vision to life. She also thanked Principal Ms. Charu Maini for her support and leadership in creating a platform that enables youth to engage meaningfully in global discourse.
This year, Conferencia ’25 features 11 committees, addressing a wide range of contemporary and pressing global and national issues. With participation from 650 delegates across various regions, the event boasts a total gathering of approximately 800 individuals, including Executive Board members, Secretariat members, teachers, and invited guests.
The opening ceremony set a high benchmark of excellence, collaboration, and diplomacy, reinforcing the school’s dedication to empowering youth voices in shaping a better, more informed world. The stage is now set for two days of thoughtful debate, policy drafting, and intellectual engagement.
