“Sustainability is not a distant goal; it is a responsibility we must act upon today."
At DAV Public School, Sector-49, Gurugram, we believe in fostering awareness and responsibility towards a sustainable future among our students. Upholding this vision, an Inter-House Parliamentary Debate was organized for students of Classes XI and XII on 22nd April 2026 as part of the ongoing Literary Fest Resonance 2026. Aligned with the theme “Stepping Towards Sustainability”, the event centered around the motion: “This House believes that a carbon tax should be imposed on industries contributing to environmental degradation.” Students from all houses participated with great enthusiasm, representing various political parties and presenting well-researched arguments. The debate witnessed a dynamic exchange of ideas, with participants showcasing strong rebuttal skills and insightful interjections. While the proposition emphasized the need for holding industries accountable and promoting eco-friendly practices through carbon taxation, the opposition highlighted economic challenges, feasibility concerns, and its potential impact on industrial growth. The competition was judged on parameters such as content, clarity, confidence, rebuttal skills, and overall presentation. The participants impressed the judges with their eloquence, critical thinking, and awareness of contemporary environmental issues. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of our Principal, Ms. Charu Maini, whose encouraging words motivated the students. She also interacted with the students, sharing her thoughts on sustainability, carbon footprint, and the importance of adopting environmentally responsible practices in everyday life. She appreciated their thoughtful perspectives and emphasized the importance of such platforms in shaping informed and responsible citizens.
