“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” -Benjamin Franklin

An engaging hands-on activity titled “From Clay to Cuneiform” was conducted for Class XI History students on 5th May 2026. The activity was designed to enhance their understanding of the Mesopotamian civilization, with a special focus on the origin and significance of clay tablets as an early form of writing and record-keeping.

During the session, students created their own clay tablets and attempted to inscribe symbols inspired by the cuneiform script. This experiential learning approach enabled them to move beyond theoretical knowledge and connect directly with the practices of ancient civilizations.

The activity not only reinforced conceptual learning but also encouraged creativity, critical thinking, and appreciation for ancient innovations. By shaping and engraving the clay, students gained insight into the challenges and ingenuity of Mesopotamian scribes.

Such interactive learning experiences play a vital role in making history meaningful and memorable. The activity successfully transformed a theoretical topic into a dynamic classroom experience, fostering curiosity and a deeper appreciation of the roots of human civilization.
