INTER HOUSE SHLOKA GAYAN COMPETITION (III-V)
Shloka Gayan – Celebrating the Wisdom of Our Heritage
Shlokas hold a significant place in India’s rich cultural and literary heritage. Composed in Sanskrit, these verses embody timeless wisdom, values and knowledge that have been passed down through generations. Learning and reciting shlokas helps children appreciate the beauty of Sanskrit while developing concentration, memory, accurate pronunciation and confidence. It also encourages them to understand and imbibe the values reflected in these traditional verses.
With the aim of encouraging students to recite shloka and familiarise them with the richness of Sanskrit literature, a ‘Shloka Gayan’ Inter-House Competition was organised for the students of Classes III to V on 12 August 2026. The participants presented their chosen shlokas with confidence and sincerity, reflecting their thorough preparation and earnest efforts.
The recitations showcased accuracy in pronunciation, rhythm and intonation. The students’ confident delivery and poised stage presence added to the overall appeal of their performances. The melodious chanting of the Sanskrit verses created a serene atmosphere. The judges appreciated the participants for their clarity, fluency, pronunciation and confidence, which reflected their dedicated preparation.
The competition provided students with an opportunity to appreciate the beauty and significance of Sanskrit verses beyond mere memorisation. It helped them develop their recitation and presentation skills while encouraging confidence and disciplined expression before an audience.
