INTERHOUSE SHLOKA GAYAN COMPETITION (CLASS V)
Shloka, is an ancient Sanskrit language word, meaning "song", derived from the root śru, meaning "hear". Shlokas are traditional Indian treasure houses of knowledge and wisdom that address all the aspects of life and learning. Children can benefit a lot from chanting and listening to shlokas. Their thoughts are relieved and purified as a result of it. Other emotions such as anger, aggression, and stress can be reduced by this technique. It is also believed that chanting of shlokas boosts the immune system of a child naturally. Reciting shlokas can also improve children's mental health and help them live a stress-free, balanced life.
In order to motivate the students to practise shloka chanting and make it a part of their daily lives, a 'Shloka Gayan' inter-house competition was organised for class V on 23.08.2024. Three participants from each house took part in the competition. They presented beautiful 'Neeti Shlokas' and explained them too. As the participants recited their shlokas, the auditorium reverberated with soothing sounds and positive energy. All the participants were well versed with their set of shlokas and impressed the judges with their confidence, fluency, clear pronunciation, and remarkable presentation skills. Mokshita Sharma (V D) from Neeti house won the First prize, Vaishnavi Aggarwal (V B) from Preeti house won the Second prize, Kuval Grover (V B) from Jyoti house won the Third prize, Omysha Miglani (V A) from Neeti house and Viraj Mittal (V E) from Jagriti house won the Encouragement prize.
