On 15 and 16 October 2024, DAV Public School, Sector-49 Gurugram hosted  the second edition, of the biggest financial literacy event of the year, i.e B-FinSmart 2.0, a two-day workshop cum competition, aimed at equipping the students, with the much required knowledge and wisdom for financial literacy. The event hosted over 20 schools and 100 enthusiastic participants, united by a common goal: to enhance their financial skills while engaging in stimulating competitions.

Through the carefully crafted workshops on Day 1 and three dynamic competitions spread over two days, the experience was highly elevated. The competitions were- ‘ CorpView’, where teams  analyzed present real-world businesses; ‘Cinematic Showdown’, where teams  creatively prepared a promotional video; and ‘MicDrop’, a platform where teams showcased musical skills in the form of songs on the do’s and don’ts of the stock market.

The event began with the ceremonial lamp lighting  by Chief Guest, Sir Shiv Raman Gaur, IAS (R), Director of Higher Education DAV College Management Committee, Arbitrator and Legal Expert;  and  Dr. Shunil Tripathi, a renowned career coach and financial mentor;  Principal, Ms. Charu Maini;  and Supervisory Head, Ms. Pooja Yadav.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Shunil Tripathi, took up the Session on Business and Financial Analysis of a Company. The  next session was on 'Application of Financial Analysis' wherein the participating teams had hands-on learning experience at their allotted venues. It was followed by a Session on Chart Patterns and Technical Indicators.

Day 2 was marked by the stellar presence of Guests of Honour from varied fields of finance and education- Mr. RK Khosla, co- author of popular books on Accountancy for CBSE and ISC; Mr. H.S. Lamba, Principal of PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 Ambala Cantt; Mr. Desh Rattan Gulati, Mentor, Lead School Edutri, Ms.Riya Kathuria, Assistant Professor at the School of Commerce, Manav Rachna Institute of Research and Studies, and Ms. Muskan Yadav, Cluster Head at Yes Securities.  

The day was all abuzz with presentations by finalists of Micdrop, Corp View and Cinematic Showdown.The dignitaries judged the finalists of the three competitions and gave invaluable feedback to the participants. Participants stepped into the arena of excitement, showcasing their strategic thinking and teamwork in an exhilarating tagline game. The event also witnessed a proud moment as the esteemed guests launched a book ‘Visionary Educators of India’ authored by Aashi Tripathi, a young and talented student of Class VIII A, of the host school.

The trophies were given away to the winning teams of various competitions, and the Overall trophy was bagged by Brahm Dutt Blue Bells Public School, Gurugram. In her address, the Principal, Ms. Charu Maini motivated all the participants and emphasized the importance of financial literacy in today's world, highlighting how understanding basic financial concepts is crucial for students to make informed decisions in their future careers and personal lives.
