'Safety First Is Safety Always....'

To create awareness among the student community about fire fighting techniques and the ways to respond swiftly in times of fire emergency situation; a mock fire evacuation drill was conducted at D.A.V. Public School, Sector -49, Gurugram on 16.04.2018 by the Fire and Resue Department.

Prior to the commencement of the exercise, the students and teachers were given awareness about various fire fighting techniques including fire alarm, use of fire extinguishers, search and rescue operation, emergency evacuation, site safety and transportation  to carry out the mock drill.

A group of fire fighters, headed by Mr. Pankaj Parashar, AFSO and Mr. Ramesh Kumar Saini, AFSO  armed with necessary paraphernalia required for fire fighting and rescue operations positioned themselves at vantage points to guide and assist the students in the mock fire evacuation drill.

The 'evacuation' operation began moments after the fire alarm team alerted the students about 'fire' in the building. The students  immediately evacuated from their classrooms and gathered at the assembly area. Using the fire extinguishers, fire was immediately put out. The students and teachers were sensitized about the use of hi-tech hydraulic trailer which can be used to rescue people from roof tops and high rise buildings. The students rejoiced the moment when a set of students and teachers including the Principal  were evacuated from the roof top by using the trailer.

The school Principal, Mrs. Charu Maini appreciated the efforts of the Fire and Resue Service Department to prepare the students for emergencies.

The  Fire and Rescue Services Department has been conducting awareness campaigns on fire fighting techniques and rescue operations in various schools during the Fire Safety Week that is observed from 14.04.18 to 20.04.18.
